A private e-mail from Ben Laden informs he has promised 100 kilograms of gold for Tamar Goregian’s head.
Reliable sources from Iraq report that Goregian’s family is considering the offer.

A video featuring the proclamation should be available at www.100kilofortamar.com soon.

One photographer has said, “Photographs don’t lie, but liars take photographs.” Every photograph is indeed subjective, because it has a certain subject. But if a subjective photograph captures people or cultural monuments being exterminated, I am for such kind of “biased photographs” (as the Azerbaijani government refers to the evidence showing their destructive policy against the Armenian heritage) because even human rights can be considered subjective.
I have this thing about photographs. I often engage in conversations with people who deny the accuracy of some photographs, let it be the Abu Ghraib atrocities, the Julfa vandalism or politician Kaloogian’s photo with Mount Ararat.
What I get irritated with is the fact that photographs, that are not pleasing somebody, get labeled “manufactured,” “fake,” or “Photoshop.” I don’t say there are not these kinds of things out there, but it is not as common as most people think.

Why Abu Ghraib? My “smart” sociology professor (about whom I once wrote) was discussing “cultural war” today and saying how bad the “bad guys are.” What about Abu Ghraib atrocities committed by our soldiers, I wondered. “Most of those photos were manufactured,” my professor responded. I confronted and said that even the Pentagon did not claim such a thing. I guess she understood she was wrong (though last week she was enthusiastically arguing that she had read 1800s literature where the word “genocide” was used despite my great efforts of trying to explain her that the term “genocide” was coined in 1944 by Raphael Lemkin!).

Well, my sociology instructor is not THAT off her mind. She says smart things too: for example, when she read my paper on “cultural genocide,” she said that I should “definitely become an author!” My psycho-racist philosophy professor Jeff Broome should be SO HAPPY that I was not blogging while taking his “Intro to Philosophy” class and learning about “Indian savageries against the poor white settlers.” Don’t you guys think I have problems with all of my professors; in fact it is just the opposite and most of them are really great teachers!
Getting back to the photographs. I don’t want to go into details of how Azerbaijani nationalists “dismiss” the photographs that show the ancient cemetery of Old Jugha (Julfa) being destroyed. I just want to gladly note that after I posted links to 48 several photos at an Azerbaijani forum, the forum users finally stopped saying that those were fake.

Getting back to Kaloogian. This is a Republican guy, with Armenian roots, who wants to become a congressman. He made a huge mistake and put Istanbul’s photo at his campaign website saying that was in Baghdad. Almost every single blogger in this world pointed out the fact and Kaloogian apologized for the mistake. Some people went ahead. Voch Me Ban posted Kaloogian’s photo with Mount Ararat at his background and joked whether this was Baghdad too. Some bloggers did the same thing but they did it seriously.
Dr. C. for example, posted a photo of Mount Ararat (taken from west Armenia – now Eastern Turkey) and alluded that this was another fabrication! After I posted some explanatory comments at Dr. C.’s blog, he said, “Alright, Blogian, you are probably right.”
Blogian’s big request to everyone: don’t argue with him about photographs unless you are Onnik Krikorian or Lewis Hine.

Several bloggers and news agencies paid attention to the fact that Azerbaijan jealously politicized Armenia’s participation in the Eurovision song contest and got angry that Andre’s (the singer who represents Armenia) birthplace was mentioned as the Nagorno Karabakh Republic.
As a result of official Azerbaijani complaints, Eurovision “hid” the fact that Andre was indeed born in the Nagorno Karabakh Republic. The Azerbaijani government was backed by Azerbaijani and Turkish hackers, who hacked Andre’s official website posting anti-Armenian remarks.
Turkish singer Sibel Tuzun is set to represent Turkey at the Eurovision song contest in May of 2006, but her website carries anti-Armenian hate propaganda with links to a hatesite which calls Armenians “rodents”
Who was next to jump on Armenia? Turkey, indeed! What is Turkey’s role in the Eurovision contest? Well, apparently Turkey also has a representative at the song contest and apparently Turkey also has a website about their singer. What is wrong with that? Nothing, except for the part that the Turkish website carries heavy anti-Armenian propaganda with links to such hatesites as www.tallarmeniantale.com (which calls Armenians "rodents").
This was noticed by the Eurovision websites, oikotimes.com, esctoday.com and escsweden.com, who demanded the withdrawal of hate propaganda. The Turkish response? SWEARING!!!
Don’t believe? Read yourself!

I know today is April 1 (Fools Day) and I know that you expect blogian to make you laugh! Well, some people think I am too funny, others think I am too serious, depending on how much they know me.
Long story short, I just encountered the best April 1 story that one could ever imagine! Why do I call it “the best?” Because this story, at least the photos, are 100% real and because the person who organized this comedy believed he was doing the right thing for his people.
So this guy, according to his post in Russian at http://www.day.az/forum/index.php?showtopi…85&#entry694985, organized an “Action in the memory of the Azerbaijani genocide in Bern [Switzerland's capital]” on 31 March 2006.
Now, forget the fact that “the Azerbaijani genocide” is a newly evoking Azerbaijani myth to counter the Armenian Genocide and kiss Turkey’s [hairy] ass; forget that this guy is doing an illegal activity, since in Switzerland it is illegal to deny the Armenian Genocide. Simply look at the photos of the “action.”
Would you like a rose and information about savage Armenian terror against the poor Azerbaijani people?

Dear Mr. Getler,
I would like to correct the misrepresentation of my involvement with the Armenian Genocide documentary in your Ombudsman column of 3/11, “ Coming Soon to Viewers Like You: “The Armenian Genocide.”
You write “PBS threatened to pull the documentary if he [Balakian] and another genocide scholar declined to participate in the panel discussion.”
That is false. What I have told several journalists in the past month is the following: I was told (in fact three times) by Oregon PBS producer David Davis that PBS would not run the documentary if a post-show panel with deniers were not made. Mr. Davis made it clear that this was the direct word from Jacoba Atlas at national headquarters. (I had sent her a letter in November appealing to her to drop the idea of a post-show on ethical and historical grounds.)
I never said nor implied that the documentary would not air if I—personally—were not on the panel. That would be, of course, absurd. Naturally, PBS would find someone else to take my place.
I decided to go forward with the “debate” after all my efforts to convince PBS to not make it failed because I have experience on TV and radio with this subject and felt I could help shape the conversation in an ethical way –and perhaps a way that would expose Turkish denial more fully for what it is.
The fact remains that PBS would not run a fair and rich documentary about the Armenian Genocide– one that included nearly a dozen Turkish voices–without running what many in the genocide studies consider to be an unethical privileging of denial.
This is not a free speech issue—as much of the scholarly community has made clear. The deniers are free in this country to express themselves without fear of prosecution or harm—but this does not guarantee them right to an elite forums. The leading authority on Holocaust and genocide denial, Professor Deborah Lipstadt has written:
“Denial of genocide—whether that of the Turks against the Armenians, or the Nazis against the Jews—is not an act of historical reinterpretation. Rather, the deniers sow confusion by appearing to be engaged in a genuine scholarly effort. The abundance of documents and testimonies that confirm the genocide are dismissed as contrived, coerced, or forgeries and falsehoods. The deniers aim at convincing innocent third parties that there is ‘another side of the story.’ Free speech does not guarantee the deniers the right to be treated as the ‘other side of a legitimate debate,’ when there is no credible ‘other side’; nor does it guarantee the deniers space in the classroom or curriculum, or in any other forum.”
Like many others, I fear that PBS resorted to the post-show panel as a kind of fire insurance because of the negative experience of harassment it had with the Turkish government in 1988 after airing an Armenian Genocide documentary, as you note in your column. While this was no doubt an uncomfortable experience, many of us hoped that PBS would not feel that sense of intimidation this time. Many institutions and organization around the world in recent years have ceased paying attention to Turkish harassment.
Lastly, I find Ms. Atlas’ explanation for the post-show program a bit disingenuous. She claims that its goal was not to provide a “platform for those who deny the genocide,” but to “explore how serious historians do their work and look at evidence.” However, by inviting two professional deniers (who have worked closed with the Turkish government) on to PBS, a large platform was provided for the repulsive lies, known as denial. And, in the twenty-five minutes we had there was not even a remote possibility that the show could explore how historians work. As fine a job as Scott Simon did hosting it, the post show is a staged “bake-off” and sadly a forum that abused the reality and memory of one of the major human rights crimes of our time.
Having made these points, I still applaud PBS for putting on “The Armenian Genoicde,” which is a landmark documentary.
Sincerely,
Peter Balakian

It is not just a blogian propaganda that www.Hayastan.com is the most popular Armenian website in the Milky Way Galaxy! The statistics of www.circle.am confirm that www.Hayastan.com is the most viewed Armenian website!
I want to thank my dear friend Artur Asatryan, the chief Webmaster of www.Hayastan.com, for all of his efforts. There are other people too, indeed, who contribute to the development of Hayastan.com. The website features almost every appropriate virtual entity: dictionaries, forum, online chat, gallery and much more!

I hope that www.blogian.hayastan.com also contributes to Hayastan.com’s development. About 100 people read Blogian daily despite the fact that it is not searchable through Google blogs and is not listed in blog directories! I receive over a dozen letters per day through [email protected], and sometimes from non-Armenians!
 More photos at http://forum.hayastan.com/index.php?showtopic=23107
Oh, almost forgot! The reason that I am so existed is because I just saw photos of www.Hayastan.com’s new office in downtown Yerevan, Armenia! For your information, Artur Asatryan currently lives in England and attends one of the best schools in the world. So it is cool that www.Hayastan.com has an office in Armenia!!!
For those who don’t know Armenian, Hayastan/Հայաստան means “Armenia” in Armenian.
Artur, where is blogian’s desk at the Yerevan office. OK, at least hang my picture in that office.
