Fascinating. I have heard of such a community, but this the first time I have read such a piece about them. I have also heard of Armenian communities in Ethiopia and Djibouti as well, which I believe are larger than the community in Sudan.
But alas, I am not aware of any scholarly research into Armenian communities in Africa (except for maybe Egypt). This would be extremely important considering the declining numbers of such marginal communities. I believe it is important that Armenians maintain some form of presence in such countries, even if they fail to persist as a community. The current Armenian presence in India would be a fine example.
