Dollars’ Value Drops; Girlfriends Drop
I was just talking to one of my best friends in Yerevan and he was saying how the vallue of American dollar has dropped in Armenia. After an economic affairs discussion, we started talking about girls and he joked that with this financial dollar crisis keeping a girlfriend is difficult hence his single status.

I think it is so ridiculous that boyfriends are always supposed to pay everything for their girlfriends! Fortunately, my boyfriend also thinks that is ridiculous so we share costs or one (m/f) pays when the other (m/f) is short of money.
Also, we have been together for more than 2.5 years. Would he still be supposed to pay for me when we go out?
Recently we were having dinner with a couple of his friends (all guys, I was the only girl on the table) and I had to leave early so I gave my bf my share of the bill. Later he told me that his friends thought that it was weird that he would let me pay my share. Hey! I’m a working woman! What else do I earn money for if not to pay my share of the bill.
Maybe I am just a very liberated, financially indepedent woman! Big fat 😉 !

Myrthe jan, I think you are very reasonable and guys do appreciate when girls are not the way many girls in Yerevan and elsewhere are. My most recent ex would not let me pay at all (she would insist to pay and did manage to do so most of the time), although it was perhaps I already paid lots of money to travel to see her. I appreciated that, although I wish her “minus” side was expecting me to pay for her. 😀

Ay, Simon! I know what you’re talking about in your second comment. There are definitely advantages both to being single and to being with someone.
