It was not genocide
The International Court for Justice held today that the massacre of Bosnian Muslims in the 1990s by Serb militias was not a genocide, reports the New York Times.
In short, Serbia is not guilty of genocide.
I am really confused. I mean, I am a graduate of the International Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies where we learned about the Bosnian genocide. An entire generation has been taught about the genocide, and today the Court says it is not genocide.
Is this to say that a court qualifies a crime a genocide? I don’t really have much to say at this time, but I have a thinkstorm going on in my mind right now and I will tell you later if I figure out what I think.

NATO has been masterminding and executing a genocide of Serbian culture (churches and monuments) in Kosovo. Thought that might be worth mentioning.
I don’t know much about the Bosnian-Serb conflict though.

From what I understand the court agreed that genocide did occur but could not be proven that the Serbian governmend directed it and that it failed to prevent it. The court is still laying some blame on the government and that they should bring forth guilty parties.
Regardless of the outcome, it’s clear what it was and that this &*$# will continue to happen in the 21st century.

New to your blog and shows how artistic you are..the look and feel of this blog is so different.
Now about the Bosnia’s Genocide, so the whole war was not warranted? We just made sure that the Muslims group have a firm foothold there?

Frieda,
so you think it was good what the serbs did to bosnian muslims and croatian catholics? The serbs called the muslim bosnians ‘Turks’ which they knew very well that was not true.

Dear Member of Congress,
As citizens of the Turkish Republic , it is our sincere desire that the HR 106 draft is withdrawn and dropped from the agenda indefinitely, as it deserves.
This draft needlessly drags the US Congress into a period where history and propaganda are mingled. It also attempts to legislate a controversial historic issue and overstrains the Congress jurisdiction. The Turkish Republic , a 60-year ally of the US , is unfairly and unjustly blamed for events that are claimed to have occurred in 1915.
These efforts also ignore calls by the Turkish Government and the Turkish Parliament. Both invited all interested historians to research all the relevant archives and records and reach a joint conclusion on what exactly happened. Turkey still expects a positive response to this initiative. Historic events need to be tackled by historians and not by elected public officials. Politicians should determine the future not the past. Moreover, there are two sides in this issue.
We understand that the aforementioned draft is a by-product of domestic US politics. The interest groups that are campaigning for this resolution may be your electorates. We Turks may not have the matching electorate and vote numbers, nor the lobbying power. Still, we are 70 million Turks honorably living in a strategically important geography for centuries. This geography is also deemed vital for US interests.
Similarly, millions of our Turkic brethren In Eurasia, the US, Europe, the Middle East , Balkans and elsewhere are monitoring these developments very closely.
We expect that the US Congress will avoid insulting the Turkish nation, especially at a time when the US needs friends in our geography.
Turkish Nation is expecting a friendship message from the US .

Dear Member of Congress,
As citizens of the Turkish Denialist Republic , it is our sincere desire that the HR 106 draft is withdrawn and adopted to the agenda indefinitely, as it deserves.
This draft needlessly drags the US Congress into a game which our government has played for decades, starting after our founder Ataturk himself acknowlaged the genocide. It also attempts to legislate a controversial historic issue which all western historians know to be the truth, only our “historians” dont think so. The Turkish Republic , a 60-year ally of the US who did not let the US enter Iraq from the north, released an anti-American/semetic movie (valley of the wolves) and is a no beacon of democracy (look at pc 301) has always tried to pay lobbiest to block any measure that would make sure the world is aware of the ottoman role in the extermination of the Armenians.
Our government has been trying to distort history by calling on historians to debate this Genocide which does not need to be debated, because its fact.
Our government is not an ally but it will threaten your government if adopts a resolution, but he its only a threat, trade went up with all countries after they passed a similar resolution, like france and canada (the nieghbors to the north)
(Similarly, millions of our Turkic brethren In Eurasia, the US, Europe, the Middle East , Balkans and elsewhere are monitoring these developments very closely)
