For arguments sake lets say there is insurmountable evidence that we ( the Turks ) did commit genocide. What would be the benefits in accepting it? Would it be admission into a dying economic zone like the E.U., who is in a path of suicide with the ungodly low birth rates. The biggest group that is contributing to its population are Muslims. So if we have the patience and wait a couple of decades we'll automatically have membership, because all the important countries of the E.U. will have majority Muslim populations. Or another benefit could be having to pay Armenia and Armenians millions of dollars in compensation and maybe even having to transfer Armenia "hard earned" territory, so future generations of Turks can live in a much smaller Turkey. Thanks but no thanks. There are no rewards for accepting something that may or may not have happened 90 plus years ago.

On the other hand having Armenia as an enemy is a good thing. Turkey spends more than 5 percent of her GDP on defense. Now in our neck of the woods that is a necessity for survival, but if you don't have made up enemies like Armenia, how are you going to convince the public that it's a necessity to spend so much on defense related matters.
