I agree, Zane. I don't think any Armenian has denied that civilians were killed in Khojalu. What the Armenian official side has advocated, backed by some Azeri refugees from Khojalu and observations by independent Azeris such as of Fatullayev, that Armenians had warned the Azeri side about the attack and had opened a humanitarian corridor for the Azeri civilians to leave. Instead, according to this explanation, the Azeri forced purposely prohibited the civilians from leaving and used them as human shield and for political purposes.

Azebaijan is not a democratic country. Freedom of speech is not legislated in their constitution.

This sort of infringement upon free speech is outrageous I admit. However, if I recall correctly, in de Waal's "Black Garden," on the segment about Khojaly, he cites an Armenian government official who essentially acknowledged that that massacre was carried out by Armenians. Without intending to sound like a Turk in reverse, I think some thorough dispassionate analysis on the event is needed, free from jingoistic nationalism.
